LPS BLOG #8: THINK GLOBAL, ACT LOCAL

By July 12, 2020BLOG

Hello there!

For this week’s London Promoters’ Society blog slot, we’d like to turn the spotlight to a special streaming festival happening this weekend, organised by one of our partner organisations, Threads Radio.

Threads International; a 37 hour non-stop AudioVisual stream bringing together 6 locations from across the globe.

As has become so apparent during lockdown, times are tough but conversation, collaboration and innovation are so important for our health and evolution.

This Saturday & Sunday, Tottenham-based Threads Radio epitomise that spirit with something truly ambitious, yet sourced from the grassroots – sharing music and visual art in worldwide solidarity.

Expect visual artists pairing with local musicians, left-of-centre sounds accompanied by extraterrestrial sightings, and immersive audiovisual streaming…from lush city panoramas through to forward-thinking live responsive visuals.

A local experience set in the context of the global, platforming regional artists to each corner of the globe, whilst also highlighting important local cause(s) and community projects, chosen by the curators from each location.

By encouraging communication and understanding across borders, the messages of community and solidarity can be protected, fostered on a local level to help us envisage a global community that freely showcases localities and individualities.

From the WAKA TAPU who help Maori communities in New Zealand to Micro.Radio, a loca; sation in Jabal Amman who have been up against an existential threat in recent months, the stream will encourage fundraising for organisations that do invaluable work in their communities. In other words, consider this an exercise in solidarity, one for which we warmly extend an invitation to listen, think and hopefully be inspired to form new threads of understanding.
