The Summit was held virtually on the 2 July 2021, with over 150 participants from across the violence against women and girls (VAWG) sector, Government departments, local authorities, police forces and police and crime commissioners (PCCs) and the hospitality industry. The event was hosted by the Minister for Safeguarding, Victoria Atkins, and compered by the Home Office Crime Director, Dan Greaves.
The main aims of the Summit were to share ideas and to discuss effective ways to tackle violence against women and girls in the streets, at night and in the night time economy. The Summit provided a space for experts and policy makers to share expertise about the nature of the problem and their experiences, ongoing projects and plans to improve safety for women and girls in public spaces, as social distancing restrictions continue to lift.
